Overview
To integrate control for advanced AI appliances in the LG ThinQ app used in over 154 countries, I led UX research, UI planning, and user testing, collaborating with internal teams to enhance control systems, AI voice recognition, and multilingual support. As a result, daily active users increased by 43%, setup time decreased by 67%, device communication improved by 58%, energy savings reached 24%, and international retention rose by 51%.

Challenge
The LG ThinQ app suffered from a fragmented UX and inadequate AI integration, leading to a 28% usability gap in key global markets. This revealed major inconsistencies in smart home control across different regions and highlighted the urgent need for a unified, optimized experience.
Objective
The objective was to resolve fragmented UX and lagging performance compared to competitors by creating a seamless, AI-powered smart home experience. This involved improving appliance pre-configuration, enabling fluid AI-driven control, optimizing energy usage through user behavior, and supporting global usability.
Result
The redesign aimed to increase platform engagement and performance, resulting in a 43% rise in daily active users, 24% energy savings, 37% improvement in AI voice recognition accuracy, and a 51% boost in international retention, setting a new benchmark for global smart home platforms.
Voice Control
Use voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant to control your LG appliances: air conditional, washer, dryer, oven, styler, and so on.
Remote Control
Start, stop and monitor your laundry remotely, and get notifications when your clothes are ready. Folding not included.
Smart Reorders
Link the ThinQ app with an Alexa device to know when laundry detergent and fabric softener are running low, and have more ordered automatically.
